No bribing. No begging. No fights.

Turn dinner battles into bedtime adventures.

Nibble & Nod helps picky eaters try new foods through storytelling. Your child meets the food as the hero of their bedtime story — so by dinnertime, it's already a friend.

🌙 Stories start tonight. Free for 7 days — cancel any time.

🌙 Step one — the story plants the seed

Every evening, 6:30pm

The food becomes the hero of their story

Each night, your child stars in their own personalised bedtime adventure. In Jungle Week, they follow Slowpoke the sloth as he discovers a new food high in the rainforest canopy — and bravely tries a bite.

By the time that food appears on a real plate, it isn't strange or scary. It's the food from the story they already love. The seed is planted gently, at the calmest moment of the day — no pressure, no negotiation.

🍽️ Step two — dinner is the reunion

Friday dinner

"Look — it's the food from my story!"

When the new food arrives at the table, it's introduced through transparent food chaining: the same safe meal your child loves, changed one small, visible step toward something new. Never hidden. Never disguised.

Curiosity replaces resistance. The dinner table stops being a battleground and becomes the happy ending to a story they've been living all week.

Sound familiar?

Dinner shouldn't feel like a negotiation you always lose.

Rewards, pressure, "just one bite" — most approaches make picky eating worse. Nibble & Nod works with how children actually learn to trust new food.

You are not failing. Pressure at the table is the one thing that reliably makes food refusal worse — so we move the introduction somewhere calm, and let dinner just be dinner again.

🦥 Inside a themed adventure week

The timing is the whole trick.

Once a month the meals and the stories lock together into one seven-night adventure. Every food your child eats has already been met, watched, and tried by the hero of last night's story.

The other three weeks run the same rhythm without the theme — three safe dinners, one small visible step, one new food.

🚀 Space 🦕 Dino 🌊 Ocean 🏰 Enchanted 🏴 Pirate 🚜 Farm
  • Sunday night
The adventure begins. No new food yet — we're just building the world.
  • Monday safe dinner
A meal they already love, with a fun theme name. Story: the hero hits their first obstacle.
  • Tuesday safe dinner
Story: the hero sees the new food in the treetops — and only watches someone else enjoy it. Curiosity planted, zero pressure.
  • Wednesday safe dinner
Story: the hero tries it, loves it, and gains something from it. The emotional peak of the week.
  • Thursday one small step
Dinner changes by exactly one visible thing — a colour, a texture, a named add-in to a food they already trust. The night after the try-bite story.
  • Friday the new food
Canopy Salmon, or whatever this week's adventure was building toward. They've already met it four nights running.
  • Saturday
The gentlest story of the week. The hero rests. So do you.

Our one hard rule

We never hide food in food.

Plenty of meal plans tell you to blend the cauliflower into the sauce and say nothing. We don't, and we won't. If a sensitive child detects something hidden in a food they trusted, you don't just lose that meal — you can lose the safe food underneath it, and some of their trust in you along with it.

Instead we use transparent food chaining: take something your child already accepts and change one sensory property in a small, openly-named step. The new element is always shown and always named. Combining ingredients your child knows about is fine. Disguising them is not. The line is transparency, not texture.

A straight word about where we are

Nibble & Nod is new. We're onboarding our first families right now, which means you'd be early — and it means we're not going to show you a wall of testimonials we haven't earned yet.

What you get instead is a founder who reads every reply. If a meal plan misses, tell me and I'll fix it that week. hello@nibbleandnod.com reaches me directly.

Questions

The things parents ask first

Do you hide vegetables in the food?
Never. Hiding food can backfire — if a child detects something hidden in a food they trusted, they can feel deceived and stop eating that safe food. Instead we use transparent food chaining: we take a food your child already loves and change one small, visible thing about it. Your child always sees and knows what's on their plate.
Will this actually work on a really picky eater?
It works on the fear, not the plate — repeated, zero-pressure exposure and one small visible step rather than a leap. What it won't do is undo a year of refusal in a week. Give it a month before you judge it. And if your child's eating is affecting their growth or health, please see a paediatrician or feeding therapist; we're a habit tool, not medical care.
Do I have to cook two dinners?
No — that's the point. Every recipe is one shared dish scaled to your household, with adult portions counted larger. On the two nights involving something new, we add a line on how to plate your child's portion so a safe anchor food sits right beside it.
How does the story know which food to introduce?
When you sign up, you tell us your child's safe foods and which food groups you'd like to introduce. We match them each week — a gentle, kid-friendly version of a new food shows up in the story first, then at the dinner table.
How personalised is the bedtime story, really?
Your child is the hero, by name, at their reading age, in a world they picked — space, dinosaurs, fairies, pirates, robots, the farm. You can add details we weave in: a favourite toy, a colour, what they want to be when they grow up. Stories run 500–600 words, always end with the hero falling asleep, and never repeat the same calming technique twice.
What about allergies or dietary needs?
You tell us every allergy and intolerance during signup — they're treated as absolute rules, and we re-check them every month. Every meal plan and story is generated with your specific constraints built in. Please still read each week's grocery list before you shop; you know your child's situation better than any plan does.
What if we have more than one child?
Every meal is designed to work for all children in your household. You give us each child's profile, and every dinner must pass all of them — allergies, dislikes, and preferences respected.
How does the free trial work, and how much setup is there?
Pick a plan and enter your card — nothing is charged for seven days. Then you answer a short set of questions about your family, around three minutes, which is all we need to personalise your first bedtime story for tonight and your first meal plan for Sunday. The last page is optional, so you can stop early and everything still works. Cancel any time before day 8 and your card is never charged; we email you before the trial ends so the date never sneaks up on you.
I'm in Canada — will this work for me?
Absolutely — it's built for families across Canada and the US, and Canadian cards work normally. Prices are in USD, so your statement will show the CAD equivalent.
